Drone photography / Roof and chimney inspection photos
Close-up photos of your roof and chimney.
A drone can photograph a roof, a chimney crown, flashing, vents and gutters without a ladder, so you see what is up there before you call a roofer or an insurer. The photos are documentation. They are not a licensed inspection and not a repair estimate.
What you get
What is in the package.
Best for: Homeowners with a leak, loose shingles or a worn chimney cap, buyers who want a second look at a roof before closing, and landlords checking a multi-family without climbing.
- Close-up stills of each roof plane, ridge, valleys, flashing, vents and chimney
- Wider shots that show where each close-up sits on the roof
- A set you can send to a roofer, mason, insurer or inspector
- Files by download link, in order, with the date and time of the flight
The honest limit. We do not diagnose, certify or estimate repairs. A drone cannot see under shingles or inside a chimney flue; a licensed roofer or chimney professional can.
Price
What it typically costs.
$175 to $500 is the draft range for Greater Boston (per property), with about $275 typical.
No source prices chimneys separately; treated as part of the roof job. Thermal or detailed reports cost extra.
Included: Annotated photos of roof planes, flashing and chimney, Gutters and visible wear, Short written summary on request.
Draft ranges researched from published pilot prices (Massachusetts where available, otherwise national), not a quote or a guarantee. Your written quote comes from the pilot who takes the job.
Questions
Common questions.
Is this a roof inspection?
No. It is a set of photos you can show a roofer, mason, inspector or insurer. A licensed professional still decides what needs fixing and what it costs.
Will a roofer accept drone photos?
Most will use them to give a first look or a rough quote, then want to see the roof in person before a firm price. Ask yours.
Can the drone go inside a chimney?
No. A drone can show the crown, the cap and the masonry outside. For the inside of a flue, a chimney sweep uses a camera made for it.
How soon can it be done?
If you have an active leak, say so. Dry, low-wind days matter, and the turnaround on this page is for the photos after the flight.
