Local guide

Selling a house in Revere.

Revere is outside our eight focus towns. You can still ask for numbers, and we will tell you honestly if we cannot find a local buyer or agent.

Revere is on the water, and that shapes a sale here more than anything else. The city calls itself a coastal community with parts in flood zones, and it puts the FEMA flood map in its online GIS, so you and any buyer can look up an address. Check your own address before you list. Revere is also in Suffolk County, not Middlesex, so your deed goes to the Suffolk Registry of Deeds in Boston.

The housing mix is hard to sum up in one line. The Census puts owner-occupancy at 45.6% (ACS 2020-2024), the 2020 Census counted 24,539 housing units, and the median owner-reported home value is $597,400. Zillow tracks houses and condos separately, and the gap is large: $681,068 for a typical house and $466,368 for a typical condo in August 2026.

Two more details set Revere apart. Massport runs two Logan Airport noise monitors in Revere, at Bradstreet and Sales and at Carey Circle. And the city's water and sewer rates put sewer at three times the water charge, which matters for anyone who owns a rental.

The Revere market

Revere had 14 to 28 sales a month in spring 2026, so every month below clears the 10-sale guard.

MonthSalesMedian sale priceSold above listMedian days on market

April 202620$570,00050%24
May 202628$651,00050%23

Redfin's single-family row for May 2026 shows 13 of the 28 sales, a median of $703,000 and 62% sold above list. The other 15 were other types of home. Zillow's August 2026 index puts a typical Revere home at $613,679 (up 1.1% in a year), a typical house at $681,068 and a typical condo at $466,368, which is 0.6% lower than a year earlier.

What it means if you sell: March took a median of 49 days and only 29% sold above list, while April and May took about 24 days with half selling above list. The median sale price dropped from $735,000 to $570,000 between March and April, but that is mostly about which homes sold, not what any one house was worth. In a city with houses, condos and multi-family buildings, an "all homes" median hides a lot. Ask for comparable sales in your own building type. Redfin's latest month here is May 2026. See what you would net.

Flood zones and the city map

The city's floodplain page tells you how to show the FEMA flood zones: open the city's GIS, click the Layers icon, turn on the layer "FEMA_Floodzones_2016", and type your address. The same page says flood zone information is often needed for insurance and assessing purposes. Use it before you list, so a flood-zone surprise does not come up after you have an offer.

Logan Airport noise

Massport's noise monitoring page lists monitors at Bradstreet and Sales and at Carey Circle in Revere. It says the FAA treats a yearly average of 65 decibels (DNL) or more as incompatible with homes, and that the number of people above that level around Logan fell from about 67,000 in 1987 to 7,980 in 2024. We found no Revere-only figure and no source tying noise to any Revere home's price. Massport's voluntary Residential Sound Insulation Program is open to homes inside its current noise map that pass an interior noise test; Massport says to call its noise report line, 617-561-3333, to find out if your home is eligible. For drone photos near Logan, see the FAA drone rules near Logan.

MBTA zoning and the Blue Line

The state found Revere compliant with the MBTA Communities law in a letter dated September 30, 2024. Revere is a Rapid Transit Community, and its district is 153.7 acres across seven districts, with room for an estimated 6,677 multi-family units, against a requirement of 6,135, per the state's letters. The Blue Line has stops in Revere at Beachmont and Wonderland, and a Revere Beach station between them, per the MBTA's Blue Line station list.

Sewer costs more than water

For rates effective July 1, 2026, the city lists residential water at $5.25 per 100 cubic feet and sewer at $15.84, a combined $21.09, per the city's water and sewer page. Landlords who pay water and sewer for their tenants feel that sewer charge. If you own a multi-family house, have your water and sewer bills ready for a buyer.

  • Residential tax rate, FY2026$8.94 per $1,000 of assessed value. City of Revere Assessors Department (the city's published rate; commercial is $17.74)
  • Assessor (value and property record card)Revere Assessors Department (Patriot Properties database and GIS). Patriot Properties has the detailed assessing record for each property, and the city's GIS (gis.revere.org) has the maps and flood layer. The department is at 281 Broadway.
  • Registry of DeedsSuffolk County Registry of Deeds. The state's town list puts Revere in the Suffolk district, 24 New Chardon Street, Boston, not Middlesex. The city's treasurer page also says tax liens are recorded at the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds. Search deeds at masslandrecords.com or the registry's own site.
  • Smoke and CO certificateRevere Fire Department, Office of Fire Prevention. Call (781) 286-8363 or visit 400 Broadway, Monday to Thursday, 8 to 10 am or 3:30 to 4:30 pm. The fee is $50 per unit, paid by check or money order at the inspection (no cash, and non-refundable). Ask at least ten business days ahead. Someone must be there with keys to every area, and the street number must be visible from the street or the inspection fails. The policy also says detectors bought online are not accepted. The certificate is valid for 60 days. See the statewide certificate guide.
  • Sewer or septicRevere's Water and Sewer Department says its system serves over 62,000 residents. We could not find a published share of homes on sewer or a list of unsewered streets. If your house has a septic system or cesspool, a Title 5 inspection applies; see the Title 5 guide. Residential water and sewer bills go out quarterly, in January, April, July and October. Rates are on the city's water and sewer page.
  • Municipal lien certificate and water billMail a written request with the property address, owner, parcel number, how the certificate should be addressed, a stamped return envelope and a check payable to the City of Revere to the Collector's Office, 281 Broadway, Revere, MA 02151. The city's treasurer page lists $50 for a one- to three-family house or vacant land, $100 for residential four or more units, $150 for commercial, industrial or public utility, and $25 extra for a 48-hour rush. The law allows 10 business days. For the final water bill, the city's water and sewer page says to request it online before the sale through the permit portal, choosing "Final Water Meter Read Request". You get payment instructions by email after approval; the fee is $50 plus $25 if expedited. See the lien certificate guide.

Cash buyer or agent

Cash offer or agent in Revere?

A cash buyer (the “we buy houses” companies and local investors) usually pays less than a listing brings but closes in weeks and takes the house as it is. An agent usually gets the higher price but takes months and some prep. At $680,000 (the Zillow typical Revere single-family value, August 2026), our default assumptions leave about $618,699 after listing costs and about $527,981 from a 78% cash offer. Your house is not typical, so run your own numbers, or read how cash home buyers work in Massachusetts.

Housing and what it means when you sell

Revere has single-family houses, condos and multi-family buildings, and Zillow tracks its condo values separately from houses. The city says it is a coastal community with parts in flood zones, so check your address on the city's flood map before you list.

For context, the Massachusetts Department of Revenue reports a statewide average single-family assessed value of $742,986 and average single-family tax bill of $8,113 for FY2026 (346 reporting communities as of February 2026). Assessed value is not sale price. Source.

For a real recent-sales picture, ask a local agent for a comparable-sales report from MLS PIN. We do not publish an estimate of any individual home's value.

Local logistics

Revere is in Suffolk County, so your deed is recorded at the Suffolk Registry of Deeds in Boston, not in Middlesex. The city issues the municipal lien certificate for $50 on a house, and you order the final water read online through the city's permit portal for $50.

Massachusetts also requires a smoke and carbon monoxide alarm certificate from the local fire department at sale, and a lead paint notification for homes built before 1978.

Your options in Revere

  • Sell for cash, as-is. Faster and simpler, usually for less than a listing would bring. See the honest math.
  • List with a local agent. Usually the highest price if the house is in decent shape and you can wait.
  • Getting the house ready. JUNKRUN's estate cleanout serves this area. JUNKRUN is owned by the same people as Home Options MA. If you choose a cleanout, we may earn money from it. No obligation to use it.

Questions

Revere questions.

Which registry of deeds covers Revere?

Suffolk. The state's town list puts Revere in the Suffolk district (24 New Chardon Street, Boston), even though the city is north of Boston. The rest of the towns on this page, except Revere, record in Middlesex South.

How do I check if my Revere house is in a flood zone?

Open the city's GIS at gis.revere.org, turn on the layer "FEMA_Floodzones_2016", and search your address. The city says flood zone information is often required for insurance and assessing, and calls Revere a coastal community with parts in flood zones. Check FEMA's Map Service Center for the current official map.

How much is the smoke and CO inspection in Revere?

The fire department's policy lists $50 per unit, paid by check or money order at the inspection, with no cash accepted. Ask at least ten business days ahead by calling (781) 286-8363. Whoever is there must have keys to every area, and a missing street number fails the inspection.

Does Revere's MBTA zoning affect a house I am selling?

We found nothing saying it changes the rules for a single house. The state's letter dated September 30, 2024 approves a district of 153.7 acres across seven districts with room for about 6,677 multi-family units. Ask the planning department how your parcel is zoned.

Should I sell a Revere multi-family house with tenants?

Many owners do, and two- and three-families are common here. Tenants, leases, notice rules and the sewer-heavy water bill all go into the price and timing. See the multi-family guide and ask an attorney about notice rules before you act.
